Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Reiki session like?

During a Reiki treatment the client is usually laying on a massage table but treatments can also be given while the client is seated or even standing. The client remains fully clothed. Reiki is non-invasive and includes light to minimal touch. The practitioner places their hands on or near the client’s body in a series of hand positions. Each position is held for three to ten minutes depending on how much Reiki the client needs at each position. The whole treatment usually lasts between 45 and 90 minutes.

What can I expect to feel like after a Reiki session?

After a Reiki session, client’s often report a variety of sensations and experiences that can be felt immediately or in the following days. Here’s what you might expect to feel after a Reiki session:

  • Deep relaxation: Many clients experience a profound sense of relaxation and calmness during and after a Reiki session, which can lead to reduced stress and anxiety.

  • Improved energy flow: As Reiki addresses energy blockages, you may feel an improved flow of energy throughout your body. This can result in increased vitality and a sense of balance.

  • Better sleep: Client’s often report enhanced sleep quality, which can be attributed to the relaxation and stress relief experienced during the session.

  • Physical sensations: During or after a Reiki session, you might experience physical sensations such as warmth, tingling, or a gentle pulsing sensation in certain areas of your body. These sensations are often associated with the flow of energy and are considered a natural part of the healing process.

It is important to note that each person’s experience with Reiki can vary, as everyone’s energy system is unique. However, most client’s report positive experiences and find that Reiki contributes to their overall health and well-being.

Are there any side effects from a Reiki treatment?

Most of the time a person will feel relaxed and uplifted by a Reiki treatment. As a person’s vibration goes up, toxins that have been stored in the body will be released into the blood stream to be filtered by the liver and kidneys and removed from the system. When this happens, sometimes a person can get a headache or stomach ache or feel weak. If this happens, it is a good idea to drink more water, eat lighter meals and get more rest. The body is cleansing as part of the healing process so this is a good sign.

What is the difference between a Distance Reiki session and a Virtual Reiki session?

A Distance Reiki session can be performed remotely, without the need for the client to be present or schedule a specific time. The Reiki practitioner connects with the client’s energy field from a distance and sends healing Reiki energy to the recipient. This type of session is convenient for clients who prefer not to meet in person or have busy schedules that make it difficult to arrange a live session. The healing energy is sent with the intention that it will be received by the client when they are ready and open to it.

A Virtual Reiki session is conducted live through an online platform, allowing the client and practitioner to interact in real-time from the comfort of their own homes or any private, comfortable location. During the session, the practitioner will guide the client through the Reiki experience, providing instructions, feedback, and support as needed. Virtual Reiki sessions offer a more interactive and personalized experience, as the client can communicate with the practitioner and ask questions or discuss their experiences during the session. This type of session is ideal for those who may want a more engaging and interactive healing experience while still enjoying the convenience of remote access.

Is Reiki associated with a religion or spiritual practice?

Reiki is not associated with any particular religion or spiritual practice. While it has roots in Japanese healing traditions, Reiki is a non-denominational healing technique that focuses on balancing and promoting the flow of life force energy. People of all religious and spiritual backgrounds can benefit from Reiki as a complementary approach to healing and well-being.
